Dental Sedation
|
• | Pain. Many patients have a fear of the pain that is typically associated with dental visits, or with more invasive dental procedures. |
• | Past experiences that were unpleasant. When you have a bad experience somewhere, such as a restaurant or a store, you do not go back. The same is true with the dental office. If you had a bad experience in the exam chair in the past, you understandably would not want to go back. |
• | You feel helpless, or out of control. Often, a fear of the dentist develops out of a feeling that you have no control over the situation. You cannot see what is happening. All you know is what we are telling you. |
• | You are embarrassed. Your teeth may be discolored, or your brushing routine less than stellar. Perhaps you are starting to show signs of gum disease. Any of these situations can lead to embarrassment and fear that we may judge you when you come in for your appointment. |
