There are different types of dental surgeries. Some surgeries are as simple as tooth extraction while others are complex such as jaw correction. Each of these surgeries has its complexities and has to be handled independently. It is not possible to pin down an accurate time taken to handle all dental surgeries. To answer the question of time, we have to look at each surgery and the form it takes.
Tooth Extraction Surgery
Tooth extraction surgery is among the simplest dental surgeries. It takes the shortest time and heals much faster than other types of surgeries. Ideally, tooth extraction happens in one session that lasts no longer than 30 minutes if it is done without complications. In case of complications, the maximum time taken could be about 1 hour.
Canal Rooting Surgery
Canal rooting surgery is similar to tooth extraction but different in that, it involves the filing of the canal with something else. Root canal surgeries usually take a long time, between two and four hours. The surgeries happen over two sessions. The first session should be one to two hours while the second should take a similar time. The first session is for removing the tooth pulp while the second caters to filling the void left.
Jaw Correction Surgery
Finally, we have jaw correction surgery, which is carried out to correct anomalies in the jaw. It can be carried out on personal preferences or due to deformities that necessitate corrections. In jaw correction surgeries, the time needed varies greatly, depending on the complexity of the situation. In most cases, the surgery is carried out in one session lasting between 2 and 6 hours. However, the time taken might be longer if there are anomalies in the process.
