How Your Diet Impacts Your Invisalign Success

How Your Diet Impacts Your Invisalign SuccessInvasilign correction therapy is a great option for the multitude of people seeking to correct their teeth for a more beautiful and healthier smile. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign braces are discreet so it's easier to live your life without the embarrassment that can come with cumbersome metal braces. Many people report great success with Invisalign after only a short amount of time using them.

Invisalign treatment has many advantages compared to traditional braces. One of these advantages is that they are easily removable making them more comfortable. Because they are removable, Invisalign wearers can eat a wider variety of foods compared to people who wear traditional braces. However, many Invisalign wearers are unaware that even though they can remove their Invisalign device, there are some foods that should still be avoided.

Foods to Avoid While Going Through Invisalign Treatment

To ensure a successful teeth correction, it's important to never wear your Invisalign while eating or drinking anything other than water. Though they are made of strong, medical-grade thermoplastic, they can be warped by certain foods.

Foods and drinks to avoid while going through Invisalign treatment include foods that are highly acidic. This includes foods and drinks like tomatoes, fruits like lemon and limes, soda, and coffee. Acidic foods will speed up the erosion of your teeth and may cause your Invisalign device to fit improperly. When your device fits improperly, it won't be working correctly anymore, and your teeth could suffer.

One type of food you should really avoid is sticky foods like candy and gum. Unfortunately, Invisalign wearers must stay away from sticky foods like braces wearers. Sticky foods can get caught in your teeth until you brush them. This will make it so that your device doesn't fit properly to your teeth and may cause alignment issues.
