How to Whiten Your Teeth with Your Diet

Posted on 8/25/2018 by Barbara Ketchum
How to Whiten Your Teeth with Your DietThe idea of having a perfect, bright, white smile is very appealing. It is so appealing that people spend millions of dollars on products that promise to whiten your teeth.

Many people head to professionals for teeth whitening. It may surprise some to find you that there is another way to whiten your teeth. It is possible to do it through diet. If you eat the right foods, whiter teeth can result.

Choosing the Right Foods

When you choose foods that are good for your health, you may worry that they are also foods that you do not want to eat. That is not true when it comes to food that help whiten your teeth. In fact, these are foods that you may already eat regularly.

•  Strawberries - Strawberries have malic acid which acts as a natural teeth whitener
•  Yogurt, milk and cheese - These products have lactic acid in common. The lactic acid helps prevent tooth decay. Yogurt can prevent bacteria, which can lead to discoloration, from binding to the teeth. Hard cheese can help remove any debris on the teeth.
•  Apples, celery and carrots - eating these helps produce more saliva, which allows them to work as a natural cleaner.
•  Baking Soda - Baking soda is a popular ingredient in toothpaste because of its ability to remove plaque and help whiten teeth.
•  Cauliflower - It takes a while to chew cauliflower, which causes the mouth to create more saliva and helps keep the teeth cleaner and whiter.

Foods to Avoid

Any good diet includes the foods you should eat. It also includes the food to avoid. The same is true when turning to diet for teeth whitening. Coffee. Red wine, pickles, gummy vitamins and soy sauce can cause more harm than the good foods can protect you from.

The key to any successful diet is moderation. You should not put too many of the foods good for teeth whitening in your diet and you should limit the bad foods. The results are a brighter, whiter smile.
