Dangers Of Not Removing Milk Teeth

Posted on 2/20/2023 by Barbara Ketchum
Dangers Of Not Removing Milk TeethMostly, you may have noticed that children shed their teeth at the age of twelve. But did you know some children do not shed their milk teeth? When no adult tooth pushes out the milk teeth, the tooth will not get out.

If you notice your child has passed this age without shedding the teeth, you must take them to the dentist. They will undergo examinations to help the dentist know what to do with the teeth. Continue reading to know the dangers of not removing milk teeth:

Overcrowding

You may find that some milk teeth don't shed off, yet another adult tooth grows from the gums. If you don't take the child to the dentist on time, they will have two teeth growing from the same place.

It will be hard for the dentist to identify the milk teeth from the adult tooth for removal. If you notice a tooth growing from the same place the other tooth is, you should immediately take the child to the dentist.

The dentist will now remove the milk teeth to give room for growth to the adult tooth. The dentist will also advise on the meals to give the child to help the child grow strong teeth.

Gaps And Misalignment

As kids grow, so do their gums widen. The teeth remain the same size, and therefore they will form gaps. You will notice significant gaps between the teeth when the children have not shed their milk teeth.

Also, the teeth will fall out of line when you don't see the dentist soon enough. The dentist may remove the milk teeth and let the adult teeth grow or give the child braces to help put back the teeth. You should now call our dentist to help you learn more information about the dangers of retaining milk teeth.
